Jessica Butler, LMT
I graduated in '06 with an Associates Degree of Applied Science from Allegany College of MD. I took and passed my National Boards of Massage Therapy, am Pennsylvania State Licensed and am a member of Associated Bodywork & Massage Professionals (ABMP).
Our curriculum focused primarily on Deep Tissue and Myofascial Release along with the common Swedish/Relaxation techniques. My massage program had only 13 students and we studied more than 1500 credit hours in 2 years. We had extensive Anatomy/ Physiology, Biology, Medical Massage and Medical Terminology to name a few of our courses.
In this field I have been introduced to many types of energy work. We had an Alternative Modalities course in which Reiki was the main focus of our studies. I have struggled with the pressure that comes with this career, because many of my mentors have been of Eastern belief. I do not channel energy from any source but my Lord, Jesus Christ. I pray during each and every one of my sessions and I believe that He guides my hands. I approach massage therapy from a Christian perspective.
First I am a new mother (my son was born in January of '12) and a wife. My availability is a bit more limited now. My work comes second to my family; however my passion in life is to help clients. Working part time, I am able to be 100% focused on my client and session. It makes me very happy to hear feedback that massage has helped clients with improved sleep, reduced pain, increased mobility and a better sense of well being. I am excited to meet you, so feel free to call and make an appointment with me!
